Con’s Score: 3 Sunflowers
This documentary has been put together by the Van Gough museum in Amsterdam and directed by an Australian David Bickerstaff.
It a straight out factual production which steps through his life and work meticulously. Most of the commentary is provided by the Museums curators and managers. There is an actor, but there’s no overt dramatisation, thankfully. What did strike me was hearing his name said in Dutch and his many insightful letters to his faithful brother Theo. He really was an eloquent writer, so his words are used to great effect.
This is a deep dive into his life and his work and a must for students and fans.
