Winner of Best Comedy Fringe World 2017, Cameron McLaren returns this Fringe with 6056, a one hour comedy show, about growing up in, and the many joys of, Midland.
With his infectious energy and laid back manner, stories of violence, road rage, Mad Dog, bananas and Nic Naitanui, are somehow effortlessly weaved together to create a hilarious set. There are no awkward moments, no half laughs in this show. Cameron is watchable, likeable and very funny.
The show also examines how place influences our identity and how a mere 17km from Perth, can feel like a world a way. The larger issues are also tackled. The lower socio-economic areas of Perth and the ice epidemic. How does a comedian incorporate such issues in a comedy show? With great earnest, integrity and clever segues, leaving a lasting impression.
Claiming that he is not very intelligent as he didn’t have a very good education, McLaren presents a very clever comedy show that is definitely worth a visit.
