Sell your child, your car, your avocados – anything and everything – to see this show.
The Briefs boys are back after a triumphant run at last year’s Sydney Festival and, subsequently, around the globe. And how lucky we are that they have graced us again with their fabulous presence.
This boylesque show is a whirlwind of circus, cabaret, pop concert and political standup. These men are fierce, flirty, filthy and fun, and utterly breathtaking. This is burlesque with balls.
We’re invited to board the mothership, helmed by our sensational sassy captain Fez Fa’anana. We’re flying away from the all bullshit on Earth, and everyone is welcome. Everyone is safe here.
This show is unlike any I have ever seen. Technically, it is on point. Slick doesn’t even begin to cover it. The cast move with such ease and control, shimmying and sashaying like their lives depend on it. The lights are synced to the music, immaculately punctuating their movement. The sound was perfectly balanced, immersing us even deeper into the show.
There is hardly anything to fault about this show. The two aerial acrobats were spellbinding, intertwining and contorting themselves on ropes, in hoops and through bird cages. They moved like mermen on a current, languid and in complete control.
The only negative? I wanted more from our captain.
